‘Hope for Disappointment’ EP featuring lead track ‘Bone Ships’
Thula Borah is a dynamic collective of musicians with an expansive sound and a taste for ambience. Lloyd, Matt, Kev and Michael hail from Glasgow, Inverness and Johannesburg which gives there music a rich blend of different outlooks and cultures. Influenced by the likes of Smashing Pumpkins, Mogwai, Radiohead and Sigur Ros, Thula Borah create their own form of brooding ambient rock that transports you to a dream world you never want to leave.
Thula Borah manage to excel in both the studio and on the stage, playing the legendary King Tuts Wah Wah Hut and heading out on tour in 2013 with a string of sold out dates.
With two members of the band being stand up comedians there is a certain humorous quality to their latest offering, a balance of light and dark which makes for a powerful idea conceptually. There is a thread running through the release, the feeling of anger at certain aspects of the modern world with nostalgia for childhood innocence which makes for a very concise and mature record from the Scottish foursome.
